Phenomenal unique food, one of the best Mexican restaurants we've eaten at with great Margaritas. My husband loved the amazing Mexican Macaroni and Cheese. The Pollo Tapatio was wonderful, and the Picosito sushi roll was outstanding. Service was great! This should have been one of the first places listed when I did a Google search for Mexican restaurants near my hotel. Went back again yesterday. The Virrea Empanadas were awesome. The Bipolar and El Mas were amazing.

I absolutely LOVE this place! It's a far cry from what it used to be when it was off of Elliot Dr. Wish I had tried it sooner. The Birria Ramen was a delightful surprise, Asian/Mexican fusion complete with chopsticks! 😋

Monterrey Mexican Restaurant is hands down one of my favorite places to eat. The food is always fresh, comes out incredibly fast, and is consistently delicious every single time. No matter what I order, it’s always cooked perfectly and never disappoints. The biggest reason I keep coming back, though, is Juan. He is by far the best server I’ve ever had. His joy, positive attitude, and genuine care for every customer make the entire experience so much better. He goes above and beyond to make sure everything is perfect and always makes you feel welcome. Great service can completely change a meal, and Juan does exactly that every time. If you’re looking for amazing Mexican food with outstanding service, I couldn’t recommend Monterrey more.

My Mexican friend insists on coming to this restaurant every time he visits Chapel Hill, so we drove all the way from Morrisville together. It was my first time trying authentic Mexican food at a restaurant. I don't know much about Mexican cuisine, so I usually just order tacos, but he wanted me to experience one of his favorite places. Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing from the moment we sat down. We waited about 15 minutes before anyone came to take our order, even though there were only around 5–7 occupied tables and several servers walking around. Multiple waiters and waitresses walked right past us without acknowledging us. I finally had to call someone over myself. I was honestly ready to walk out after waiting that long, but because my friend had heard such great things about this place, I stayed and wanted to give it a fair chance. Things only got worse. They brought me the wrong order, and once again I had to flag someone down to get it fixed. There was no apology—someone simply took the plate away and brought the correct dish. The service here is excellent, but the food is so so. Our server went up and beyond, but the food we feel wasnt worth the 50 dollar price tag. The corn was good though!
